(4/26/99) Boyds Joins GCC ... in a super special fund raising project to raise money for the Pediatric AIDS Foundation (this is a cause dear to the Head Bean's heart) in their battle against that deadly disease. GCC member stores will host a Spring Open House event on May 1, 1999. Caren B. Bearlove, a limited edition, will debut at this event. Caren is a bear in a beesuit wearing a ribbon banner with the Pediatric AIDS symbol and the saying "Be Kind and Care". For every sale of this special figurine, Boyds will make a donation to the Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Santa Monica, CA - to support research, emergency assistance and educational development in their ballte against AIDS.(4/25/99) Fall Boyds Event! - For the VERY FIRST TIME, there will be a Fall Boyds Event on October 16th. This event will feature a Plush Event Piece.

Flash McBear in Category 16 - Category 16 - Figurines
Pick up the July-August issue of Teddy Bears & Friends magazine & send in the TOBY Ballot.
(4/16/99) Live Audience at Boyds May Show Cancelled! - Lots of folks have received a call from QVC ... the live audience for the May 21st Boyds show hass been cancelled. Gary is scheduled for a medical procedure and doesn't feel that he will be comfortable with a live audience during the show.
(4/16/99) Boyds Event! - Boyds dealers will be holding a "Honey of an Event" on or after the Launch Day ( April 17th, 1999 ). Dealers will have the Event Piece - " Victoria Regina Buzzbruin", the Special "Queen Bee" pin and, if available, a special event T-shirt.
(4/16/99) New Boyds Tapestry Item! - A framed Boyds tapestry ("Bailey... Ain't Life Sweet") will be available soon. It is made of a high quality medium oak frame, has an off-white mat & a wire hanger. Frame measures 24" square from outside edges with the tapestry measuring 15 1/2" inside the matting.

(4/8/99) Hallmark Exclusive?? - Chili just posted this on our Bulletin Board: "I just heard about an exclusive Hallmark plush bear named Valerie. She is brown, around 6" tall, wearing a light blue felt hat with a dark blue flower on the brim. Her number is is #94328ID and she retails for around $12."

"I found a darling pattern (not an official Boyds pattern) that looks very Boydish in a catalogue
called The Stitchery. The phone # is 1-800-388-9662. The
pattern is called "Olde Teddies". It is very cute with a bear that looks
like Clinton (I think - still new at recognizing some of the plush). He is
sitting on a quilt on top of a table with some crafty things around him and
what looks like a basket with baby's breath is in the background. It is the
closest pattern I have ever found to a Boyds look-a-like. I have been around
the cross-stitch stores in my area and haven't found anything
that comes this close." Sue thanks so much for sharing this with us!!!
(4/8/99) FoB Kits - The HART Center in PA has started putting together the individual FOB kits. The first 166 were shipped out on Tuesday 4/6.
Michele from AOL told us before that Boyd's had hired the help of the clients of the HART Center in PA to put together our FOB kits, well they just donated about 300 plush bears...all about 18 inches...to the HART Center to give to each and every client that works there...even if they have not helped in putting together the kits. Remember, this is in addition to paying them. What a great company.
Another indication of how great this company is.....every year Boyd's has an employee sale (God, how I would love to go to that), and whatever they don't sell they donate to a mission some place in Montana. Wow, what a cool Head Bean!!! Thanks for the news, Michele!
I have heard that the member only plush that we can buy for $25 is just adorable.....and that the fence goes all the way around the 3 bears (if u didn't already know that).
