"the premier edition sizes vary on qvc based on the number of pieces we agree to produce and sell to qvc. that's why one of the village houses might be 3000 PE's and another might be 2400 PE's. what we try never to do is make a premier edition larger than a normal edition. so qvc's premier edition of a bearstone could never be larger than 6000 pieces. usually, it is much much smaller. this is because we limit our quantities to qvc---sometimes because a style is so difficult to make that we can't rush production without sacrificing quality, and sometimes we just don't want to give qvc too much of a style. hope this information helps. bearhugs...liz" (1/25/01) Wishkabibble Mistake ! - Wishkabibbles come with their own storybooks - each book tells the story of the character. Lizzie was the first chapter in the Wishkabibble saga. And Meridian, Serendipity, and Cooper were supposed to be chapters two, three, and four respectively. If you buy Meridian and Cooper, you’ll notice that both of their books are labeled Chapter Four. Some advice from yer Ol’ Uncle Bean…Betta get on down to yer nearest Boyds Dealer and snatch up Meridian before she’s sold out…could be years (or days) before the Folks at Boyds make another mistake this big! (1/18/01) Boyds Longaberger Exclusive ! - JUST RELEASED! 2001 Boyds Limited Edition, 2nd in the series, Resin creation made EXCLUSIVELY for Longaberger® ... "Grammy Quiltsbeary with Patches ... Quiet Times". A light colored brown bear sitting in a rocking chair on a cobblestone floor ... holding "Patches", a baby bear covered in a soft blue, green and yellow quilt. GRAMMY is dressed in a mint green floral dress, trimmed in light yellow with a mint green bow on her head with "Granny" glasses on her nose. On the floor next to the rocking chair is a Longaberger® Darning Basket full of quilting supplies. Angel ! - Boyds teamed up with the Starlight Foundation last year to raise money to place video game centers that are used in seriously ill children's rooms at Children's Hospitals across the country. They are planning on doing a plush piece to be released in March again to benefit the Starlight Foundation and they called Char Jensema to ask her permission to name this plush piece Vanessa R. Here are Liz's comments on this topic: " ... too many changes. and do you know what? i agree. i apologize for not responding...to be honest, i'm focused on the 4 qvc shows and have to leave at 6:00 am monday morning for atlanta (one of our biggest gift shows), so i made copies of the comments for our next p.d. staff meeting. actually, i've already discussed it briefly with some of the team. the good news is, 95% of what you are saying is valid, and can be fixed. although we always do a few brighter colors for the spring line, there was more of that in spring 01 than usual and we should never forget that comfortable, country look and feel. it's a loooonnng story, and no excuses should be offered, just try to do better. it's important to try new things, but not at the expense of what folks love about boyds. personally, my favorite group in spring is the watermelon collection...all country colors, textures. so please "bear with us" (forgive me for that one!) and spread the word that we hear you guys, and are listening. bearhugs...liz" (1/12/01) QVC Show Pictures! - Many thanks to Brigitte for putting the pictures online for us to see: Click Here (1/12/01) QVC Show Item #'s! - Many thanks to Beth for posting the #'s for the villages on our bulletin board. "Yes, you read correctly. Boyds will have a full both at Rosemont, a chat (now called a Boyds Town Meeting), a signing by Liz Smith and a hospitality suite! Take time while you enjoy these fun events to thank Jean Andre, Boyds' CEO, who is making the whole thing possible. He read all your comments and looked at the number of responses we got -- well other 150 --and decided that it really was important for the collectors to have a Boyds event at Rosemont. We'll have more details in the Winter issue of BT & T (Bear Tales & Trails), which will be mailed next Saturday. Incidentally, disregard the news in the FoB Enquirer that says Boyds is NOT going; the decision to go was made yesterday, after the Enquirer was mailed. Also, the postcards to the lucky winners who will be going to Gettysburg for the Reunion were mailed today, so keep your eyes on your mailbox. What other company do you know of that has a CEO who is so willing to listen to his customers and ACT ON IT! Jean Andre really is a super friend to all of us! See you at Rosemont! BOYDS COLLECTORS ATTENTION !
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! Jean-Andre, Boyds CEO, called us (Harry & Millie) today because we had expressed misgivings to some of our friends at Boyds -- based on input from Boyds collectors -- about Boyds not being at the International Collectible show at Rosemont this year in June. They are concerned that the collectors are unhappy or disappointed – which is something they definitely want to avoid. Boyds is considering adding Rosemont to their schedule, which is no easy job, primarily because of personnel overwork; however, they are willing to do so IF YOU feel strongly that they should. If you prefer that they only do Navy Pier, please let us know that also. We will forward your opinions to Jean-Andre, and they will be a factor in the decision which will be made next week! This should prove to ALL BOYDS COLLECTORS, your opinion and vote REALLY do count! So ... if you would really like them to add Rosemont, please let us know your feelings and we will forward them to Jean-Andre.
