Boyds is honored to introduce Reagan Emery. Named in memory of a sweet little girl whose short life has inspired a community to rally for a worthy cause. Back in July 2006, we received a very touching letter from Reagan's paternal Grandfather, Greg Williams. Greg shared the story of a visit he and his wife, a Boyds Collector herself, made to Boyds Bear Country in Tennessee shortly before Reagan passed. He told us about the bears they brought back for her and another granddaughter and how the bear went everywhere with Reagan. Sharing the news of Reagan's passing, he asked if we would consider naming a bear in her memory. So moved by Greg's story, we waited for just the right bear to name in her honor. When we looked at the sweet face of one of the newest additions to the My Favorite Things collection, we knew we had found the perfect namesake. I know, I know Christmas just passed but I thought you might like to know about some of the items. For Halloween there are 2 Resin Pumpkins the size of a real Pumpkin with bears on them plus a TB that is a Witches Hat !!! Also probably one of the best Halloween pins...a Witches shoe with flowers coming out of it. There is also a Moose Trick or Treating. (1/6/08)   Bethy Needs Your Input Bethy has posted on our Bulletin Boards that she is "seriously contemplating writing a history/reference book about Boyds plush - not a value guide, but an informational book with anecdotal information, many pictures, and focus on variations, tag information including all hang tags, specifics on the more popular series like Baileys, Bubbas and Himalayans - and exclusives through the years. Probably would go the self publishing route. I have already contacted Boyds and gotten enough encouragment to go forward with writing a book proposal. Honestly - do you think there would be interest in a book like this - maybe 2000 copies is all I am thinking to start - but I wanted to start by asking all of you first - would you buy a book like that? What price range would you pay? Would you be willing to contribute information/pictures?" After getting some input from collectors ... "I am working on a formal proposal and outline now. How you can help? I am sure there are things I do not have that I would like to have pictures of. I will post in more detail later my idea - once I get it worked out in my head - thank you for the encouragement, the $20 to $30.00 range is definitely what I had in mind - and I think there is enough material for a few books depending on the response - I would like to do a resin book too if the plush book goes okay - thank you so much for taking the time to respond - now I just have to "git r done"!!! I figure if the plush book does well enough I would love to follow up with a resin book but I would REALLY need help on that one, an expert I am NOT! I mainly want to focus on the older pieces, both plush and resin too, because there are more variations, more difficulty in identification with the older plush, and things can be explained in print that can't just be shown in a picture. It won't have every Boyds made - I plan to focus on the items that to me stand out from the collection as a whole and are more likely to hold their value over time, and also the ones that are harder to identify like the early naked bears. I would rather have fewer bears with bigger, more detailed pictures and accompanying descriptions - the newer bears are not that hard to identify, they have printed hang tags, there are catalogs in abundance and information on the Boyds and other sites - so likely will focus on pre 1995 plush, plus the series like Uptown Bears, exclusives, mohairs, etc." Send your input to Bethy (1/4/08)   Last Chance to Own Boyds Critter Slippers!
