Fran from The Old Blue Barn posted this information on our bulletin board.
"I found out about the catalogs today. It will be the same as usual. All FOB members will get the catalogs sent to them. The stores will all have 1 binder for the store that will stay in store. The stores will still be allowed to purchase catalogs for purchase by collectors or for the stores to give to collectors. There will be separate catalogs for each catagory Plush, Bearstones, Gift Shop and Dolls."

There has been alot of talk about the following on the various bulletin boards.
* Julie no longer creating Boyds Dolls?? - Liz replied to this on the FoB Board.
"We are still working with Julie, but on an individual basis. Yes, you are correct that the demand for dolls has truly slowed down. That's why we don't do doll shows on QVC anymore...not our decision, QVC's. But we will be coming out with new dolls on the Spring 04 line."
* No more catalogs in the FoB Kits??? - Boyds states that you will still receive a catalog in the Collectors Club kits. Instead of receiving 3 different catalogs for plush, resin, and gift shoppe you will receive one catalog with most of the new product listed for each of the product lines. The newsletters will still be included in the Collectors Club kits as well and will continue to be mailed to the members.
* Catalogs for Retailers: The retailers are not going to have "catalogs." They are going to have binders with pictures, which will not be permitted to leave the store.
* Exclusive products: Boyds is not sure what may be available for the members in 2004. The denim shirt, mug, and magnet were actually just a test for 2003 and at this time they are not sure if we will continue to do the Exclusives.
* Redemption pieces: This is supposed to be done the same as before. You will get the redemption certificate with the FoB kit; you will turn it in to your retailer and they will send it in to Boyds for you.

The Boyds Resin Guide was supposed to be approved by September and out by October.
Bangzoom states that it is "still on someone's desk" waiting for approval, and that

Thanks to Rose T for posting the first part of this list on our Bulletin Board. She and Ralph attended the Boyds Tea at BBC (Boyds Bear Country) this past weekend. Also thanks to many others for items they remembered from the BBC weekend's Tea.
New stuff for spring 2004
There are approximately 380 new products for the 2004 Boyds Spring line.
| 1. Shoe Box Bears are going to be Fife & Drum...Colonial look. (real cute) 2. LE United We Stand resin 3. No Spring Event ... Boyds is going to combine it into a fall with plush and resin for there 25th anniversary. 4. Five Little Wings 5. Three Holy Cows 6. New little LE Mohair's will be a duck, bunny, bear with hats on. 7. Spring sets will be: Lemon Family, The Tweeters, Ladybugs, McVeggie's 8. Peekers: Carrot, tomato, pea pod, egg plant and lemon slice. 9. They had a little pillow with a little bear inside. 10. A black and white razzberries group (Raspbearies SP?) They are like the teabearies but are in a mug and have really cut sayings on them ( plush and resin that is fun and irreverent--sayings such as "would you like a little cheese with that whine" etc.) 11. Treasure Boxes - only saw 2: gum ball machine, doll house 12. Starlight spring plush is a lilac color. 13. Scrap book resin - There is a bear sitting on the floor with all kinds of scrapbooking stuff around her. The detail is amazing. Liz was explaining that they used decals on the pictures instead of hand painting because they were so small and they wanted the detail. It is a must have for scrap bookers It's the Friendship piece for spring and has two girl bears sitting with scrap book items all around them. "friends make memories" 14. Dolls - a cute toddler girl holding a little lamb. There were plenty of new dolls, dollstones. 15. Two or three new bearfoot friends. 16. There were plenty of new fairies, angels and lots of new plush-- 18. 12 new tea berries 19. There's a beautiful bear in a white dress with black and red print and trim. Liz designed the fabric, I think. Also some with outfits with little birds on, I think Liz designed that fabric too. Fruit and vegetable peekers. A pretty bear with with a yellow and green (fruit colors?)dress. Also a new nekkid bear with a really cute face, different. |

She is the BBC exclusive bear that was sold this last weekend for the 1st anniversary of the BBC. I think there were only a total of 3000 bears sold. 1000 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Chocolate Lovers
BBC now has a 9" or so solid chocolate standing Boyds Bear at about 4 pounds for $19.99. He comes in brown or white chocolate.

Gray hooded sweatshirt with kangaroo pouch on front. The pouch had a bear paw print on each side and the sweatshirt has the boyds logo on the upperleft side. On one side you have the "Boyds Bear Country" printing like the denim shirts. They're $29.95.

The Fifth Annual Celebration of Boyds in Clarion, IA will be held on Sat., June 12, 2004.
They have 2 seminars in the a.m. and 2 in the afternoon. The seminars are all different. Alot of us are staying at the Iron Horse Inn, but all their rooms are booked. There is one or two motels in the nearby town of Belmond that may have rooms left, it's only like 15 minutes away. Great opportunity to meet other collectors in person, as it's not as big as what goes on at BBC.
