| RARE 1991 Boyds Carvers Choice Decoys 3 DUCKS a set from 1990, and retired the very next year, 1991. The series was called "Minnesota Flats". Three-quarters of an inch thick mahagony, they were carved and painted on both sides. These were the Boyds interpretation of the decoy flatties used by Market Hunters in the late 1800s / early 1900s. Each beautiful duck is approx. 7-8 inches across. |

You may notice that the name was shortened from the Boyds Value Tracker to the 'Boyds Tracker' You will like what you see in the Tracker! I am most proud of my Pawnotes. The biggest thing you will soon learn in reviewing the Boyds Tracker is that there are a lot of variations in the early Plush pieces. This is what we hope you'll enjoy seeing for the first time & learning about as much as we enjoyed collecting them. In the early years of Boyds Plush, it was not uncommon to see Gary restyle the piece; by changing the face, the body, fur color, or tweak it here and there. Rather than giving the new styled critter a new name to avoid confusion, Boyds kept right on producing it. This is what's known as an 'Evolutionary' piece. Unlike the resins, the evolutionary pieces never made it to production. This will explain why you will see two bears with the same name but look so completely different that you'd swear it was not the same piece. This is what makes it very confusing at times, but we hope to clear that up for you with what I call 'Pawnotes'. Pawnotes are simply footnotes at the end of the book that will give you tidbits about a particular piece, it's history, or interesting facts we've compiled over the many years of collecting Boyds Plush. Things we've learned from asking Gary or fellow employees all the right questions. To read about a particular piece a tiny 'Paw' will be indicated next to it's picture de-noting that there is a pawnote to go with that item in the back of the book. |

(9/13/02) Boyds QVC Theodore Set Edition Size - Liz, VP of Stuff, posted this on the FoB Board:
Hi everyone! I had to jump in here to correct some numbers that I read on the Board. We were originally planning to make QVC's TSV Theodore M. Bear a Limited Edition set of 35,000. (That's the number I read on the Board.) But the longer pile 100 percent mohair proved a very difficult challenge when we made the fiber into the actual material. To make a long and painful story short...we couldn't make 35,000. The entire Limited Edition is less than 22,000 sets (actually, I believe the final count was about 21,200).
QVC has 15,500 sets ready to ship in their warehouse when orders are placed. In addition, they have reserved another 4000 sets for "advance order"...meaning that they will take longer to ship since they don't have them yet. And we have reserved one set for each person who has a ticket for a QVC show so that they could purchase Theodore M. Bear if they want to.
That leaves about 1100 or so sets that will be at the store on September 27 on a first-come-first-serve basis. As you all know, that's not tons of bears to go around compared to some prior Limited Editions. Just wanted everyone to know what happened. And we're thrilled that those of you who have already received Theodore M. Bear love him as much as I do. Isn't he wonderful?

(9/12/02) Boyds Jamboree Ticket Offer Scam? - If you are looking for a jamboree ticket by placing want ads or posts ... please be careful! People are reporting that they have received an email from a person that may be dishonest.
TDS has replied:
I have been asked about this gentleman and I'm checkin' on it at this point. At first he offered a collector tickets fer $60 each and then dropped the price to $40 each. and will only take cash money orders. Said he has `bout 40 to 50 tickets. I really dunt see how this happened. I did warn the collector that emailed me to be verdy careful. So again this whole thing is not adding up on our end, but I'm not real sure if he is legit or not.

(9/12/02) Boyds PA YORK FAIR Exclusive Bear - The York Fair opened Friday, Sept 6, 2002 and runs for 10 days.
| Adam is a new exclusive bear made for the PA State Fair in York, PA. He is an 8" medium-brown bear with a banner on his foot that says #4. Adam is the 4th in a series of "York Fair" bears, but the first one that is a Boyds Bear. Ellsworth is a 10" bear who looks a bit like Timothy T.Beansley, but is a mocha brown color plush with light brown felt pawpads. His left foot has a label that says "Little Debbie". He has a red jaquard ribbon and wears a backpack. The backpack is white and what looks like a light blue gingham check. There is a Little Debbie label on the blue part and what looks like words in a semi-circle on the white part above it.
